Laundry pods are designed to make laundry foolproof. But if you use them incorrectly, you can get residue, stains not removed, or even damage your clothes. As the manufacturer of millions of pods at Jingliang Daily Chemicals, we have seen every mistake.
Follow this expert guide to get perfect results every time.
The Correct Way to Use Laundry Pods StepbyStep
This is the method recommended by all washing machine manufacturers like LG, Samsung, and Bosch, and by Jingliang:
Step 1: Always Use Dry Hands. PVA film dissolves with any moisture. If your hands are wet, the pod will start to leak and stick. Take the pod from the pouch with completely dry hands and reseal the pouch immediately.
Step 2: Place Pod Directly in the EMPTY Drum FIRST. This is the most important rule. Always put the pod at the back of the empty drum before you add any clothes. Never put it in the detergent dispenser drawer. The drawer does not have enough water flow to dissolve the PVA film quickly, causing residue and clogging.
Step 3: Add Your Laundry on Top. Place your clothes on top of the pod. This ensures the pod is at the bottom where water hits it first and gets trapped under the clothes, giving it time to dissolve fully. Don't overload the machine leave enough space for water circulation. The drum should be 3/4 full max.
Step 4: Select the Right Cycle and Temperature. Jingliang pods dissolve at 15°C, so cold wash is fine. For best stain removal, 30°C is ideal. No need for 60°C unless washing heavily soiled bedding. Close the door and start.
Step 5: Remove Clothes Promptly. After the cycle, remove clothes promptly to prevent fragrance transfer and wrinkles.
How Many Laundry Pods Should You Use? Dosage Chart
Using too many pods is wasteful and causes oversudsing that leaves residue. Using too few means poor cleaning.
| Load Size | Soil Level | Jingliang Pod Size | How Many Pods |
| : | : | : | : |
| Small (34kg) / Hand wash | Light | 15g standard pod | 1 pod |
| Medium (57kg) Standard | Normal / Daily | 15g standard pod | 1 pod |
| Large (810kg) | Heavy / Towels | 15g standard pod | 2 pods |
| Extra Large (>10kg) Commercial | Very Heavy | 20g commercial pod | 2 pods |
Never use more than 2 pods in a household machine. If you have a very small sink wash, we offer 10g mini pods. Do not cut a pod in half you will be exposed to concentrated detergent.
Front Loader vs Top Loader: Any Difference?
Front Loader (HE Machine): Place pod at the back of the drum first. Front loaders use less water, so placement is critical. Our pods are lowsuds and HEcompatible, so they won't cause oversudsing errors.
Top Loader with Agitator: Place pod at the bottom of the drum before clothes, near the agitator. The agitator helps dissolve it faster. If you have a top loader without agitator (impeller), same as front loader pod first, then clothes.
For Hand Washing: Do not use laundry pods for hand washing if possible. They are highly concentrated for machine use. If you must, dissolve 1 pod fully in 5 liters of warm water first, then add clothes. Never rub the pod directly on fabric. Wear gloves.
7 Common Mistakes That Cause Problems
Mistake 1: Putting Pod in Detergent Drawer. Causes 90% of "pod not dissolving" complaints. The drawer is for liquid only. Pod must go in drum.
Mistake 2: Adding Pod After Clothes. If you put clothes in first and then drop pod on top, the pod can get trapped in a pocket or sleeve and not dissolve, leaving a gel stain on clothes.
Mistake 3: Overloading the Machine. If the drum is packed tight, water cannot circulate to dissolve the pod. Clothes come out with white PVA residue. Always leave 4 inches of space at top.
Mistake 4: Using Pods with Very Cold, Very Short Cycle. While our pods dissolve at 15°C, if you use a 15minute quick wash with icecold water and a full load, it may not have enough time. For quick wash, use warm water or place pod in drum 5 minutes before starting with a little warm water.
Mistake 5: Storing Pods in Humid Bathroom. Steam from shower makes PVA sticky and pods clump together. Always store in a cool, dry place, sealed in original childproof pouch, away from sink and dishwasher.
Mistake 6: Handling Pods with Wet Hands or Letting Kids Play. Safety risk and causes pod to burst prematurely.
Mistake 7: Using Two Pods for a Normal Load "For Extra Clean". More detergent does not mean cleaner clothes. It causes residue buildup, makes clothes stiff, and can cause skin irritation. One Jingliang 3chamber pod is ultraconcentrated and enough.
Troubleshooting: Why Is There Residue?
If you see white film or gel after wash:
You put pod in drawer put in drum.
You overloaded do smaller loads.
Water is too cold and cycle too short use 30°C normal cycle.
You are using cheap PVA film. Jingliang uses premium Japanese Kuraray PVA that dissolves 3x faster than cheap Chinese PVA.
If clothes are still stained, you may need to pretreat heavy stains before washing, or use 2 pods for that extralarge heavily soiled load.
Using laundry pods correctly is simple: Dry hands, pod first in empty drum, then clothes, 1 pod per load, reseal pouch. That's it.

FAQ
Q: Where exactly do you put laundry pods in a front loader?
Put the pod directly into the empty drum at the back, before adding clothes. Never put it in the detergent dispenser drawer or the fabric softener compartment.
Q: Can laundry pods clog my washing machine?
No, when used correctly in the drum. Highquality PVA like Jingliang's dissolves completely. Clogs happen when pods are put in the drawer where they don't get enough water.
Q: How many laundry pods do you need for a large load?
For a standard 67kg load, 1 pod is enough. For a large 810kg load or heavily soiled laundry like towels and bedding, use 2 pods of 15g each.
